IPFA/BCA 3rd Global Symposium on the Future for Blood and Plasma Donation, USA


As a response to the increasing global need for Plasma Derived Medicinal Products, and in collaboration with Blood Centers of America (BCA), IPFA is organizing the 3rd Global Symposium on
"the Future for Blood and Plasma Donations".    

Meeting Dates and Venue

This Symposium will take place on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 September 2017 at the The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead, in Atlanta, the capital of Georgia, USA. 

Symposium Program

The meeting will be hosted by Blood Assurance. Building on discussions and outcomes from the 2014 and 2015 Symposiums, the meeting will address this topic from various perspectives:

  • Patient perspective – Why the need for increased plasma production
  • Manufacturers – The latest developments on their products and technologies
  • Considerations of donor safety
  • Regulators – Regulatory Convergence
  • Strategic approaches to security of supply
  • Practical - Operational approaches for changing a blood center into a blood / plasma collection center
  • Managing TTIs and microbiological risks from donations
  • Hospital and product purchasers' perspectives

Who should attend

The focus of this Symposium reflects the IPFA priority to promote and support increased plasma supply from traditional blood / plasma organisations. The program will be relevant and important for colleagues from blood banking, patient and donor organizations, supporting industries, regulatory authorities and all stakeholders with an involvement in policies necessary to secure and increase the global supply of plasma to meet patient needs for plasma derivatives. This public meeting is however open to any (other) interested party.
