Commit to Plasma – IPFA Joins the Campaign!

13 June 2025

As we approach World Blood Donor Day 2025, IPFA is proud to announce our support for the Commit to Plasma campaign, joining many other stakeholders in advocating for stronger public plasma collection systems in Europe.

Why This Campaign Matters
The Commit to Plasma campaign calls on European nations and authorities to:
👉 Publish National Plasma Plans by the end of 2026, with clear and ambitious national plasma collection targets;
👉 Earmark dedicated funding to support these efforts;
👉 Enhance national cooperation among key stakeholders to ensure the success of public plasma programmes.

This initiative is crucial to addressing the growing need for plasma-derived medicinal products and ensuring strategic independence in plasma supply.

IPFA’s Role and Alignment
At IPFA, our mission is to support the public sector in building robust national plasma strategies. These strategies are essential for:

  • Increasing strategic independence for plasma and the medicines;;
  • Ensuring equitable access to plasma-derived therapies;
  • Strengthening public health systems.

Our goals are fully aligned with the Commit to Plasma campaign and its vision for a more resilient and sustainable plasma ecosystem.

A Global Perspective
While the campaign focuses on Europe, its message resonates globally. The theme of World Blood Donor Day 2025 urges governments and development partners to:
“Mobilize support to invest in and sustain national blood programs to achieve universal access to safe blood transfusion worldwide.”

We at IPFA have long recognized that strong national blood systems are the foundation of any effective plasma strategy within the public sector.

Join Us
We encourage all stakeholders to support this important cause by signing the manifesto.
Together, we can make a difference for patients around the world.

IPFA will continue to advocate for public plasma programmes—for the benefit of all.
