IPFA/PEI 33rd International Workshop on Surveillance and Screening of Blood-borne Pathogens

The 33rd IPFA/PEI International Workshop on Surveillance and Screening of Blood-borne Pathogens, will be hosted on 12-13 May 2027 in the historic and inspiring city of Edinburgh!

The venue, the Royal College of Physicians, will provide an ideal setting for both formal sessions and informal exchanges during breaks and social events.

As always the scientific programme will continue to focus on microbiological risks of transfusion, epidemiological surveillance and strategies to assure the continuing safety of blood and PDMP transfusions. In this way we hope to contribute to global multidisciplinary collaboration, horizon scanning and surveillance of current and emerging safety considerations in our evolving environment.

Details of the programme and practical arrangements will be published over coming months, but meantime we warmly invite you to mark the above dates in your diary and look forward to welcoming you to the wonderful city of Edinburgh.

Registration

The registration fee includes full attendance to the Workshop, coffee breaks and lunch on both days and access to the on-line proceedings after the event.

Participants from low-income economies or lower-middle-income economies can benefit from a discounted registration fee. You can find the list of eligible countries on the website of the World Bank here

Student fee: Individuals must present proof of fulltime enrolment at a recognized university/institute at both the time of registration and during the Workshop dates. During the registration process, the applicant must upload a letter signed by the head of the relevant university/institute department and stamped with the university/institute official stamp.

Registration will open in November, 2026.

Hotel

We have reserved a room block at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Edinburgh City Centre, located at the Royal Mile. The hotel is just a 15 minutes walking distance through the historic town of Edinburgh to the congress venue, the Royal College of Physicians.

Rooms are offered at 228.00 GBP per night, based on a Single room including breakfast.
